INSURANCE AND BONDING |
| |
Tad Jacobs, Owner of TREEMASTERS, has been a licensed contractor in the state of California since 1992. Because Mr. Jacobs is a licensed contractor, TREEMASTERS is able to be a fully bonded and insured company. We are insured for Workers Compensation, Automobile, and General Liability. This fact is important to you, our client, because part of providing superior customer service is being able to protect your property and personal safety in case of an incident while we are on the job. As a standard practice, TREEMASTERS provides a certificate of insurance to each client once a contract is signed and work is scheduled.
In total, TREEMASTERS is insured with over $7 million in coverage to provide our clients with the confidence and assurance that we will not leave them with any insurance claims against their property.
It is important for you as a consumer to ensure that any contractor you hire is licensed, bonded, and insured. While most contractors in California take insurance requirements and worker's compensation matters seriously, there are those that may cut corners in an attempt to save money. For this reason, TREEMASTERS strongly recommends checking the licensing status of any contractor you hire, and ensuring they have sufficient insurance and worker's compensation coverage. However, insurance coverage alone
is only in place to safeguard the client and contractor if there is an incident, and does not guard against an incident occuring in the first place. For this reason, TREEMASTERS utilizes a comprehensive safety program with all of our tree care workers to help ensure ANSI and OSHA approved safety measures are followed on each of our jobs and to promote safety in the workplace. For a recent example of what can happen when an un-insured contractor is hired and does not follow safety protocols, please read this article published by the Marin Independent Journal.

It is also important when hiring an arborist to know that their certification has not expired, lapsed, or been revoked. I.S.A. Certified Arborists must undergo continuing education and training in order to keep their certifications current and active. Some less honest arborists may receive their initial certification but neglect to participate in the continuing education and allow their certifications to lapse, but will still advertise themselves as Certified Arborists.
Before you hire ANY Certified Arborist, please verify their certification status at the International Society of Arboriculture website. You can search by the certification ID number, location, postal code, or last name.

INSURANCE
For years, the industry standard for General Liability insurance coverage has been $1 million. As property values and workers compensation costs have risen, so has the need for increased insurance coverage for construction and service companies around the country. At TREEMASTERS, we felt it was our obligation to our valued clients to ensure that any incident, big or small, would be covered and our clients would have no cause for concern, therefor we are insured with $7 million in General Liability Coverage.
Because of this obligation to our clients, TREEMASTERS increased our insurance coverage WELL above the $1 million industry standard. Listed below is TREEMASTERS’ insurance coverage package, with a brief explanation of what it does to protect you, our valued clients.
GENERAL LIABILITY COVERAGE - $1 Million
General Liability insurance protects any property in the area in which we are working. If an incident affects your property, your neighbor’s property, or a car passing by on the road, it will all be covered.
AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE – $1 Million
All of our vehicles, from our large trucks to our sales vehicles, are covered under this Automobile Insurance policy.
WORKER’S COMPENSATION INSURANCE – No Limit
If an incident affects one of our employees while working on your property, our Worker’s Compensation Insurance will bear the cost of treatment.
UMBRELLA POLICY - $6 Million
Our Umbrella Policy coverage supplements our General Liability insurance coverage, meaning that if an incident exhausts the limit of the first policy, there is sufficient coverage available to remediate any claim.
In addition to our Worker's Compensation Insurance, TREEMASTERS offers all of our full-time employees full health benefits.
